Billing
The free tier keeps a capped pantry in date. The paid tier removes the cap and adds plan generation, bulk capture and rotation automation as each of those lands. This page says how paying works and what happens when you stop.
Subscribing
Go to Subscribe from the pantry, or to Settings, Billing, and choose "Continue to payment". That takes you to Stripe's payment page, where the price is shown in pounds with VAT before anything is charged. Card details are entered there and never reach Auto Prepped.
When the payment goes through, Stripe tells us directly. Your subscription turns on when that message arrives, usually within a minute, not the instant the page reloads. The page you come back to says where things stand. You will get two emails: the receipt from Stripe, and a confirmation from us.
Changing or cancelling
Settings, Billing, "Manage your subscription in Stripe". That opens Stripe's page, where you can change the card, change the plan, pause the subscription, or cancel it. It brings you back here afterwards.
- Pausing stops the charges and the paid features until you resume. Your pantry stays as it is.
- Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. Until then everything works as before. After that you are on the free tier, and your pantry is still here.
We do not build our own screens for any of this; Stripe's are the ones that are kept up to date.
If a payment fails
Stripe retries the card over the following days and emails you. Your access continues while it does. Update the card on Stripe's page from Settings, Billing, and Stripe retries on its own once it is updated. If the card is not updated, the subscription ends and you are on the free tier; nothing is deleted.
Some banks ask you to confirm a payment in their own app. When that happens we email you a link to Stripe's page where you can.
What we email you about
Subscription started, payment failed, a payment that needs confirming, a trial ending, an upcoming renewal, subscription cancelled. All of these go to every member of the household whose email address is confirmed.
Records
Payment records are kept after an account is deleted, because the law requires it. They hold what was paid and when, not what is in your cupboard.
Whether a trial needs a card, and how many items the free tier holds, have not been decided. No prices are published here; the price is on Stripe's page.
